Buyer paid for shipping, but I am not being reimbursed for the cost

Hello everyone,
as already hinted at in the "subject", for the second time now I have only received the sale price, not the shipping costs, even though they are listed in the overview with the shipping costs. Is this a new trick or what is this supposed to mean? So the buyer paid shipping costs and they were also deducted from me. When I was looking for ways to contact eBay, I kept only coming across the virtual assistant, who doesn't even understand the question properly.
Has anyone had the same experiences ?

·6 months agoHello, I have now also sold an item. The following about this:
Selling price 15.00 plus shipping costs 5.49.
I was informed that the amount was 15.00, my credit. But then only 9.51 was credited to me.
So 15.00 minus 5.49 shipping, although these were paid by the buyer. Unfortunately, this cannot be clarified properly because you cannot contact a HUMAN.

·6 months agoTake a look under Payments - All transactions. There everything is listed: what the buyer paid, what goes towards fees or shipping costs, and what gets paid out.

take a look at the transaction history, there you can see all bookings individually.
But I can also see from your account that you had several sales.
Could it therefore be that 5.49 EUR have already been deducted for another shipping label?

yes, I already understood that.
But that still wouldn't fit.
I paid exactly the €6.99 that the BUYER also paid.
So then I must receive a refund of the sale proceeds of €50 PLUS €6.99 = €56.99.
Otherwise EBAY would get the costs twice.
Once from me and once from the buyer.
I paid the €6.99 via PAYPAL.

Hi Nadja,
That would be completely new to me, that eBay would debit you if you paid for the label with PayPal.
Just take a screenshot of your order, the same way I did it in my example.

just to add: If I want to buy a Hermes label via Ebay, I can't pay with Paypal, only with my balance:
Paypal payment is only shown to me as an option with DHL.

I downloaded the label via eBay - it came that way automatically.
I also just called EBAY.
They said that I should normally already have received it and are checking it.
It shouldn't really matter where I create and buy the label.
I should always receive the money for the product PLUS the shipping costs from EBAY.
So exactly the amount the buyer also paid.

Moin Nadja, wenn Du das Versandetikett bei Ebay gekauft und mit Deinem Guthaben bezahlt hast, werden Dir die Kosten dafür selbstverständlich von Deinem Gutahben abgezogen. Das kannst z.B. bei Deinen Bestellungen nachprüfen. Hier mal ein Beispiel von meinen Bestellungen:
Hier siehst Du, daß einmal € 6,99 bezahlt wurden und einmal ein Versandetikett für € 6,19 von Ebay gekauft wurde.

OP1 year agoOh dear, I really got myself tangled up in this. Sorry! I was under the impression that I had paid for the label via PayPal, but that was a mistake, it was about something else.
perfect-sally explained it to me again properly, then I remembered.

if you create and buy the label directly with the shipping provider, then you pay upfront and receive the full amount: shipping costs and sales proceeds from ebay transferred to you.
The shipping costs are, after all, an "used up" item.
And you're not the first person who found that odd.

·8 months agoHello, I also have a problem here. I have now sold something 2x and always only received the sales proceeds. The buyer paid the shipping costs but I only get the sales proceeds from Ebay.
This means I have to pay the shipping costs myself every time. Something is definitely not right.

·8 months agoI bought the shipping label on Ebay and downloaded it directly there.
I've always done it that way and always got EVERYTHING credited back.
But for the last 2 sales this month, I've only ever received the sale proceeds.

If you paid for them separately with Paypal, then of course you get the full purchase price credited. If you paid with your balance, the costs will be deducted from the payout amount.

I also sold for 80,- plus 6.19 shipping and am only getting 73.81 paid out from eBay. That can’t be right! In the end, the buyer had to pay 86.19 after all!
Why am I only getting 73.81 paid out???

Have you already bought the shipping label for it?
It’s logical that 6.19 EUR has already been deducted from the available amount, because the actual amount has probably not been released yet.

of course I'll pay for the shipping label, but the buyer was also charged shipping costs, so I should receive the amount plus shipping costs by bank transfer. Otherwise, eBay got shipping costs from both of us. I don't really get it.

You can’t want the shipping costs and a shipping label. Then you would basically be getting paid twice.
You collect amount X including shipping.
From this amount you pay the shipping via eBay and receive the shipping label for it.
Of course eBay has to buy the shipping label from DHL, for example, with that amount; they don’t get that for free.
So in the end DHL has the money for the shipping and you have your label.
That’s fine as it is.

Even if you offer free shipping, shipping is not free.
You’ve “built in” the price for the “free” shipping into the item price.
Now the shipping label has to be created and paid for:
if it’s created directly on eBay, it gets deducted from the sales proceeds.
If the shipping label is created directly with the shipping provider, you pay the shipping costs upfront.

none of us can look into your account. Take a look yourself under Payments - All transactions. There you can see all incoming and outgoing payments from your account. If you have specific questions about it, we can gladly bring in an eBay employee tomorrow.

·1 year agoOops. You sell an item at your price. The buyer wants the item sent to them and pays you or eBay the shipping costs you previously specified, which you need to send the item.
The buyer pays the item price + shipping costs.
You now have to buy a shipping label, and if you do this via eBay, the amount can be deducted from your balance and you receive the amount remaining after the cost of the shipping label has been deducted.

·10 months agoYou also won't get that transferred if you buy a label for it from the credit!
Example:
The item costs €20, and you specified the shipping costs as €6. Then your credit after payment is €26.
You buy a label through eBay for €6 and that is deducted from your credit.
The payout amount that is transferred to you is therefore €20.

Buyer pays eBay 26 euros, a parcel label is bought for 6 EUR, parcel is sent.
After two days, the transfer of 14 EURO comes from eBay.
Find the ERROR!

·8 months agoSorry, but I think you don't understand what is meant. - Of course, the buyer transfers, for example, 100 + 6.19 = 106.19 euros.. so far so good.. BUT when you click on the link below on eBay, where it says "Buy shipping label", then from your eBay balance (i.e. 106.19) NOT just the 6.19 is deducted but 12.38 euros.. Double shipping costs.
That's happened to me twice already, and I had absolutely no idea what I was supposed to have done wrong.
That means you should receive 100,-, but instead you get 93.81 euros.
Do you understand now what this is about?

So how do you get the money back then??
The virtual assistant doesn’t understand my issue.

·7 months agoThe buyer pays the shipping costs to you together with the item price, and you buy a label with that money! If you create it through eBay, it will be deducted from your proceeds depending on the label and depending on what you specify as the payment method.
There is nothing there that should be refunded.

·2 months agoBut the buyer does not pay the shipping costs to eBay, but to you. That is independent of which payment method the buyer chooses.
As the seller, you can only choose the eBay payment method. That is why eBay withholds the money and shipping labels are deducted from any available balance.
What is eBay supposed to do with the money for the shipping labels if you have to buy the label?
