Checkout process when shipping costs change
Summary: manu463 asks the community how to proceed if you want to buy items and the shipping costs can only be adjusted after checkout. petersmodellbahnstuebchen recommends asking the seller about the shipping costs for multiple items before making the purchase, then adding the items to the cart and requesting a total amount. This approach helps find a mutually agreeable solution before payment is made.
Hello dear community,
I'm facing a situation where, as a buyer, I'm interested in an item that I want to purchase 3 times, but the shipping costs need to be adjusted by the seller. The problem is that the purchase is normally directly tied to payment.
How do you handle situations like this when the shipping costs are only supposed to be adjusted after the purchase process? Are there specific steps you follow to make sure the seller can still change the shipping costs before you pay?

however, the shipping costs must be adjusted by the seller
That’s not quite right!
Sellers do not have to adjust shipping costs and also do not have to offer combined shipping!
That’s why always read first whether the seller already offers combined shipping in their item description or, as Peter says, ask beforehand.

if, as a buyer, I’m interested in several buy-it-now items from a seller I don’t know, I ask them before buying how high the shipping costs would be for purchasing those items.
If the answer suits me, I put the items in the cart and then request the total amount, bindingly.
As a seller, I also recommend this to potential customers, but I also offer the option of sending me a list of the desired items, and then I create a personal offer with much better conditions than with individual purchases.
Best regards from the Baltic Sea
