Package disappeared at the post office
I auctioned off an item that was sold, I shipped it, and it disappeared at the post office. The package never arrived. What should I do? eBay has held back the amount. How do I get my money? The package is insured after all.

You were already told what to do and you should refund the buyer before eBay does it, because then you'll also get a defect on your account. Then you still get to deal with the parcel service provider.

·1 week agoGood morning @marzese-0 ,
so that a moderator can help you / take a look at the case, more detailed information is needed. (saves unnecessary back-and-forth)
The exact progress must be traceable.
Needed are:
the Ebay item number of the goods
shipping service and dispatch date of the affected parcel
Is there any correspondence between you and the buyer?
Have you checked the exact shipment progress in the app of the shipping provider ?
What does the current shipment status say there?
(Maybe delivery is only delayed because the courier is sick, the parcel was misrouted in the logistics center, or similar.)
If necessary, submit an inquiry/search request to the provider.
You will only get the money from Ebay if it is proven that the parcel was properly delivered. (The delivery status is automatically sent from the parcel service to Ebay, usually with a delay of course)
If the buyer has already opened a case with Ebay (item not received),
then, after the deadline has expired, they will get the money back. (buyer protection)
Then Ebay is out of it and it’s up to you to claim the loss from the shipping provider.
For that you need proof, so make screenshots / copies of the tracking history.
As a precaution, save the correspondence and proof of posting.
The tracking number is very important for correct assignment.
Surely a kind mentor or moderator will get in touch with you and help you, so for now please just wait.
(unfortunately I can't tag anyone because I don't know who is present and responsible right now)
The two points mentioned above are important, you can already add them in advance.
Good luck and all the best

Your task now would be to file an investigation request with DHL; it generally takes several weeks to get the result
... but the buyer probably won’t want to wait that long and will report an item not received - or has he already done that (opened a case?)
If necessary, proof of shipment alone isn’t enough and proof of delivery will be required, and you don’t have that - eBay will then refund the buyer’s money
