Stress with shipping options, postal code, PO box
Summary: The discussion, titled "Stress mit Versandoptionen, Postnummer, Postfach", involves participants talking about experiences with package delivery options, post numbers, and post office boxes. The conversation includes multiple exchanges between different participants, indicating a shared concern or issue related to these topics, but no detailed content is available from the original posts.
I can’t believe the problems I’m having right now as a buyer with my tried-and-true delivery addresses that have always worked (PO box and post office branch). Dear sellers, if you offer letter mail and don’t want to deliver to a PO box address, please disable the function, or indicate this in the shipping options. For a delivery to a branch, I’m certainly not going to create a DHL account just to get a post number. That’s forced recruitment. I didn’t even know what a post number was, since no seller explained the issue to me when I asked. In one current case, I was only told 4 days after the purchase that they couldn’t send letter mail to a PO box. Then I read the post: "Shipping to post office branch post number missing?" Still, the mystery with the letter mail and the PO box remains.
If this keeps being this much of a hassle, I won’t place any more orders. It’s too stressful for me.

If you read this. With all due respect, but since when is it the customer’s job to make things convenient for the seller? Who is the customer here? If I interpreted your words correctly?
And there doesn’t seem to be a real person at the eBay hotline anymore either?
Best regards to all

·2 months agoHello, @euroskala
as @kometenhuhn has already written, for delivery of parcel shipments to branches that are intended for you, your post number is required. Only then is it ensured that you will be informed promptly by email about the delivery of a parcel shipment at the post branch. When the post number is assigned, your email address is stored. Or do you really want to ask every two/three days at "your" post branch whether perhaps a parcel shipment has arrived for you?
Only letter mail may be addressed to "post boxes"; but not all of it. Please read up on the Deutsche Post homepage.
No letter mail may be sent to "post branches" for you (and everyone else). The post branch operator would have considerable effort for accepting, storing, and handing it over to the (correct) recipient. He would bear the full risk of any loss, damage, etc. and receive no payment from Deutsche Post for it. The post branch operator can therefore refuse acceptance of letter mail that is to be sent via him to other people. Here too, the same applies: Do you really want to inquire every two/three days at this post branch whether perhaps a letter has been deposited for you?
Since the addressee of such letters does not live or reside at the address, the letter carrier can already return the shipments (as the addressee cannot be identified at this address or similar).

Manfred

·2 months agoFor branch delivery, DHL requires the details of a post number - that is now a required field there. You could also store the customer's email address - but that's actually more of a "gray area".
Here too, the recipient would have to be asked in advance for permission to store it.
The seller is not at fault in this case. In the end, he franks it incompletely, the goods come back, and he is left "stuck" with the costs for the outbound and return shipping.
If the recipient then has to cover the aforementioned costs, there is often incomprehension - along the lines of - "It has always worked, it can't be my fault". But of course the Vk should explain why something cannot be implemented 🙂
Shipping providers also change their requirements over the years when it comes to shipping.
As for delivery to a post office box, I'm out of my depth - unfortunately I don't know anything about that 🙂

·2 months agoA seller creates the shipping label with the shipping details / delivery address stored only by you.
It doesn’t work any other way. @euroskala
You yourself should and must check the sellers’ shipping options.

You unfortunately misunderstood my post there. I only pointed out that the post number is mandatory. Otherwise, the shipment will be sent back to the seller.
I don't want to make things convenient for the seller, but the fact is that the data is a required field and the buyer has to stick to that.

·2 months agoHey @petersmodellbahnstuebchen ,
has this been deleted here?
I did write that a customer has to check with the seller what the shipping options are.
Uh, @euroskala for delivery to a PO box address, you also have data stored there; it's saved with the post office.

I haven't noticed that yet.

And since when are so-called customers allowed to have incomplete delivery addresses and the sellers are supposed to still have powdered sugar ready for the customer?
Your views are going to get you put on some blocklists; no seller needs that kind of thing.
