Auctions: display "end time" replaced by "remaining time"
Summary: georgonline expressed frustration with a recent change on an auction site where the display format for auction endings was switched from a specific end time to a countdown of remaining time, which they find unhelpful as a buyer. In "Auctions" the previous display for auction end (YY MM DD hh:mm:ss) was (once again...??) replaced by a display of "remaining time" (still 5 days 2 hours). There is only an eBay help article on this topic for the role of SELLER.
The new "remaining time" display is useless to me - as a buyer. I claim that most other users too (auction enthusiasts) immediately try to determine the END TIME (YY MM DD hh:mm:ss) somehow.
That's probably a good mental arithmetic exercise once, but by the second time it's just annoying.

Nice to see you here in the forum - I remember the really nice contact when you bought my old power supply from me.
Regarding your topic: Maybe my following explanation will help you: If you click on the number of bids for the auction you're interested in (even if it says 0 bids), you'll go to the bid overview. There it shows the exact time when the auction ends - unfortunately not in seconds, but if you have the reference point, you can estimate it pretty well. In my app, the bid overview then looks like this:

End time is something completely different and with remaining time that's absolutely correct!
The end time in this case is exactly the moment when the offer ends and the remaining time is simply the countdown ticking down.
And ebay is definitely not going to change that back again, because ebay absolutely loves this kind of gimmick. You can see that in the whole system, which is made worse again and again unnecessarily.
