I’m a bit annoyed by the constant emails about my “orders” and my “shipments.” In my opinion, eBay is using the wrong terms there. My orders are the goods/items I have ordered, and my shipments are the goods/items I have sent. Or am I seeing that wrong? bach262
There, among other things, a distinction is made between sales order and purchase order. Those are simply sales and purchase orders there.
In the German language, too, a literal distinction is not made between incoming and outgoing orders, but between customer orders and purchases. However, that is not common internationally.
So just get used to the fact that your sales are recorded as orders and your purchases as purchases. And in the system, everything is simply recorded under one order number.
Even if you don't like it, Ebay-Com will certainly not invest in changing the terminology just for Germany.
Well, and the Ebay philosophy unfortunately stands in the way of that!
- Invoice has a negative connotation as a term

- Order sounds positive!
From a marketing point of view, a clever move; unfortunately, in this constellation the GVKs are left holding the bag if the buyer absolutely wants a "proper" invoice.
That leaves only an external invoicing program and thus more effort and costs! 😕

If I call up the function "Print invoice and more" and then what I can print there says "Order" and nowhere does the word "invoice" appear - then that has already led to confusion for some buyers!
An order is an order and an invoice is an invoice - but an order is NOT an invoice!
Luckily the tax office no longer sees it that strictly and accepts the eBay order as an invoice - it would be more complicated if that weren't the case.
no, you're not seeing that wrong and there are many more examples, like "order" instead of "invoice" when printing or "delivered" instead of "out for delivery" in shipment tracking, etc. etc.
But you can't do anything about that - Ebay is absolutely impervious to advice in this regard!
To be fair, though, you have to say that this wasn't dreamed up by Ebay Germany, but is a corporate directive.

the receipt says invoice/picking slip in the top right

·4 months agoYes, but at the decisive point, namely where the sequential number (invoice number) is given, it says "order".
You know that in Germany literally EVERYTHING is regulated - even the required appearance of an invoice.
And what Ebay provides simply does not meet that !
But as already said, by now even the tax office recognizes it - so it's not that bad !

when I print an invoice / packing slip, the term invoice does indeed appear:
Both invoice and a unique invoice number.
