E-Mail loses ebay
Some people like to point to the legal notice when it comes to eBay's contact details.
However, the email address listed there no longer accepts direct questions about issues. That means the service is being downgraded another level.
Instead, the same standard reply always comes now:

It looks like there are only the following options left:
a.) AI phone assistant or
b.) by registered mail
---
Offering one euro to take over eBay and convert the GmbH into a cooperative.
Since my euro probably isn't enough, I'd issue cooperative shares to other backers. 🙂
Back to the roots!

I had three emails for you.
1. Documents regarding payment dispute 5007284585
2. Information about my hospital stay (which clearly affects my privacy)
3. Inquiry about order 17-12099-24585
In none of these cases was the email accepted.
The AI assistant didn’t understand the problem; moreover, it doesn’t accept electronic documents, and the response options are more than poor, because they don’t address the need for clarification. Free text input would be easier.
Best regards and have a nice weekend

Hello @ttd4it and thanks for your hint. Outside business hours, you can still contact us through this channel. However, for a quicker resolution, we recommend first using the automated assistant at the end of any help page and then *if needed* requesting a callback or calling us using the phone number in the legal notice - this also works from abroad. A lot of things can often be clarified more quickly by phone.
The community is open 24/7, and if you can't help each other out, we eBay folks here can also help with almost any issue, @txaratxuri this as a note for you too 🙂.
Kind regards
Miriam

Thanks for the heads-up that AI hasn’t yet been rolled out across the board.
Maybe someone from the eBay team can also let us know when the email address in the legal notice stopped being usable?

·1 year agoIn the Spanish eBay Community there is also a section called „Help from Mentors“ https://comunidad.ebay.es/t5/Ayuda-de-Mentores-de-la/ct-p/11900000007 , but apparently there are no volunteers who want to work for eBay for free. That’s why employees answer instead.
There you can still request a callback from a natural intelligence (a real person), and there is also an email address that isn’t an imprint.
Maybe the German mentors should go on strike sometime, then eBay will have to provide more staff.

·1 year agoIn this German-speaking community there are now 13 employees, some of whom also reply here on weekends until 10 p.m. and also on holidays, isn’t that enough or what?

It's not A, but T.
You can read it here without a paywall.

Yes, so you don’t get bored. 😉
Maybe you yourself have a few error messages and suggestions for improvement at the ready?
Otherwise, I would politely but firmly ask you not to comment on my threads anymore. Many thanks in advance for your efforts.

·1 year agoThat means ahead, @ttd4it .
Otherwise I write wherever I want.
Otherwise I don't buy from T.

So at least A and T 😄
PS: Huh, has a Vatnik eaten my text again?

·1 year agoNope, it was just office gossip 🙊
I don’t have in my head right now what/why A is being threatened by the EU because of DSA... but E is always so dedicated to its customers that nothing can happen there anyway! (in German: if only A had invested in 2 full-time positions for lobbyists too).

You mean they’re already packing their bags and clearing out their desks? 😁
Is that info official too?
I tried it three times with three different topics. As stated, the result is always the message above.
In the film industry, there’s the “Golden Raspberry.” Maybe something like that will soon exist for declining marketplaces too?
At least against a marketplace operator that is a competitor of eBay, the EU competition authorities have already initiated formal proceedings, because it is not acceptable (violation of the “Digital Service Act”) that some sellers cannot be clearly identified. That corresponds here to the dilemma with the missing Chinese legal notices.
