Glass pipes and bongs cannabis
does anyone have any info on whether, due to the CanG or CanKonG, which came into force on 1/4, eBay is changing its policies?
Right now these fall under "drug accessories," but if you search, of course you can still find plenty of listings. A conversation with an employee (very nice and helpful, by the way) revealed that I shouldn't expect anything for the next 2-3 days. However, it didn't sound like a categorical "no." I've been active on another platform for a while, where selling isn't a problem. eBay is apparently justifying it for now by saying that with bongs you can smoke other things besides cannabis and tobacco. You can, however, also do other things with a spoon (greetings from Frankfurt Central Station), and yet those are still allowed.
But back to the question
Does anyone have info about a change in the policies, or whether bongs/glass pipes could eventually be sold legally? Stock is full, so I'd be ready 😁
Regards and thanks for the reply.

Hello @olaflur! Policies and rules also apply on other eBay websites and must be followed. If an offer that violates our guidelines is not proactively handled by us, we review reports via the item pages.
Is there a specific situation where you need our support or constructive feedback that we may pass along for you? If so, please feel free to open a separate topic - we're here for you and would be happy if you viewed our marketplace a little more positively in the future 🙂.
Kind regards
Miriam

Hello @olaflur - I have read your criticism in full and our moderation team has just taken appropriate action.
Where there's a buzz, there's bound to be fallout, and as a rule we don't want eBay to be spoken badly of in our community - especially not when it involves false statements - so much for that. Our offer to extend a hand to you still stands. Feel free to start a new topic if you are in a situation where we can help you from eBay's perspective and there is still "something to talk about" 🙂.
But please let's stay on the actual topic here: eBay policy on drugs and drug paraphernalia. We have shared your previous feedback on this with the teams responsible for our policies at eBay Germany and we are monitoring the discussion.
Best regards
Miriam

Hello @miriam@ebay
Thanks for making sure my deleted posts were restored. What’s bad is that your intervention was necessary for that. It goes without saying that critical posts should remain up too. We are in Germany, not North Korea. Incidentally, my other reply in this topic, for which I even got a suspension for nothing, was not restored, which I find cowardly.
Where there’s planing, there’s shavings
In a forum, members are supposed to do the planing, not eBay, which turns critical posts into shavings.
basically, we do not want eBay to be spoken badly of in our community
Then there are only 2 possibilities. Either eBay has to get better so it isn’t spoken badly of, or you should shut down the forum so that eBay can’t be spoken badly of in the first place. As someone wrote here in another topic, what his former boss said about his company - it doesn’t matter what is written about us on advertising banners in sports stadiums, but what people say about us. That applies to eBay too.
if it is false statements
If you mean my statement about the Chinese, it’s by no means just my opinion. Ask other members who complain about the sellers from the Middle Kingdom having free rein. Everyone can’t be mistaken.

·2 years agoIf Ebay does not want to "continue not to promote or encourage drug use and items that are suitable and intended for the production or use of mind-altering substances may not be offered on eBay," then I really do wonder why not only shot glasses are legally offered, but also 130,000 listings can currently be found in the "Beer, Wine & Spirits" category on ebay.de.
Are the tools not allowed here, while the drug itself can be offered as well?
That seems to me to be very much a double standard

Alcohol just doesn’t have a stigmatized "past"; I’ve already gotten remarks like "You don’t drink, you can’t have any fun with you" - and the fact that every alcohol buzz is a poisoning of the body is conveniently kept quiet.
After all, the state collects taxes on it and the public gets to pay the resulting medical costs through higher health insurance premiums, all good 😨

OP2 years agoThe old gateway drug legend. Most "**bleep**" have previously consumed tobacco or alcohol. Consequently, alcohol and tobacco are the gateway drugs. Cannabis is the transition. Only if you want to add another 5 cents to that, now you can get it right. There are also statistics from the health insurance companies on this.
You don't need to thank me. You're welcome.

Almost all the jun.kies I've gotten to know drank milk in their childhood and cola in their youth! 😵

·2 years agoWhen it comes to alcohol, it’s not just Ebay that’s applying double standards, but also our government and our society.
Alcoholism costs our society many billions* every year and many people their lives, not to mention shattered families, children who suffer immensely from it, in some cases their entire lives, or victims of accidents caused by drunk driving.
*Nevertheless, Germany remains unchanged in the upper third in international comparison. The economic costs caused by alcohol consumption amount to around 57 billion euros per year (Jahrbuch Sucht 2023).
No amount of potheads in Germany could manage that.
I find this hypocrisy absolutely 🤢

Do you really have to turn everything into a business? First, there are really more important challenges waiting to be solved, and second, anyone like me who has seen young people under 30 first take cannabis, then move on to harder stuff, and ultimately die from it, can’t support that 😠

·2 years agoAnd I keep wondering where the good old handcraft is in all this stuff about accessories and glass pipes, bongs and whatever 😎
miriam@ebay
Hello @salgueirohuv and thank you for your question! Our policy on drugs and drug paraphernalia has not changed and we are also not aware of any planned changes.
eBay will continue not to promote or encourage drug use. Accordingly, items that are suitable and intended for the manufacture or use of mind-altering substances, also may continue not be offered on eBay.
Best regards

Hello @herbal_wizard and thanks for sharing your opinion with us here! Items classified as drug paraphernalia may not be sold on our platform. Due to the different laws worldwide, we do not allow exceptions for such items > Policy on drugs and drug paraphernalia.
At eBay, different departments work to maintain the security of the site and identify policy violations as quickly as possible and take appropriate action. You can also report items that violate our policies to us 24/7 via the respective item page. We appreciate your help.
Please note that in general, some items traditionally intended for the consumption of tobacco products are permitted on eBay, including the traditional water pipe.

I don’t understand that now, after reading this article: Isn’t that half-hearted?

Best regards 😊
miriam@ebay
Hello @*sweet-melody* and Thanks for asking! It may initially seem half-hearted, but there are thorough considerations behind this decision. Our policy allows hookahs globally, but we remove listings when it is stated that they can also be used for drug consumption.
Isn't that a reasonable approach? 🙂
Best regards
Miriam

·1 year agoDepends how you look at it. Long papers are allowed too, and what do you think gets rolled with them? 😉

·1 year ago@miriam@ebay, but who would be so stupid as to state that?
Basically okay, but not consistently implemented. It’s probably
not that easy either. Because there are plenty of other sensitive
items that shouldn’t be offered here for certain reasons.
Where do you start and where do you stop?
😊

·1 year agoYour dogma principles do not correspond to reality. The sale of pipes has never been prohibited in the FRG. There are 25,000 items on Ebay that are related to this. A ban on sales on EBAY in Germany would be impersonation of authority! So behavior by EBAY that violates the ban. Criminal!
