Hello @miriam@ebay
Hello @steffi@ebay
Hello @patrick@ebay
what about this suggestion:
eBay does make goodwill payments from time to time.
How about if these goodwill payments were not made as a refund, but as a voucher for a purchase on eBay?
The sellers on eBay, eBay itself, would benefit from it and buyers who receive a voucher as a gesture of goodwill would be happy too.
That would be an optimal solution for everyone, wouldn’t it?

Well, there are also enough - far too many - buyers showing up here whose Klarna voucher doesn’t work - then the eBay employees present here have to correct it manually. So it was definitely read. In other words, an own-goal. The dark figure of those who don’t show up here but still can’t redeem their vouchers must be very high.
So I’d just leave the vouchers out altogether - the tech simply doesn’t work on that front.
Then I’d rather do away with the goodwill payments and make the sellers pay up whenever justified. I don’t understand why that isn’t happening anyway.

I completely agree with you! There are still way too many goodwill refunds here and unjustified shipping labels that the sellers have to be accountable for!

Hello @raffke2012 - Thanks for forwarding the suggestion. In itself your idea sounds great, but there are a few reasons that speak against this idea.
In buyer protection cases, money is usually moved around, and if a voucher were then also involved, that could get a bit complicated. We also see in the community again and again that some people don't read the voucher terms and conditions and then, for example, overlook the expiry date - handling could be difficult if, for example, it is still about a lost remaining amount from a buyer protection case.
Your idea itself is good, but for now it looks like eBay goodwill payments for buyer protection cases will continue to be refunded to the original payment method - the amount can then of course be used again for the next eBay purchase 🙂.
Best regards
Miriam

OP2 years agoHello @miriam@ebay
your point of view is understandable and clearly laid out.
In buyer protection cases, I would also want my amount refunded.
For the goodwill payments I mentioned, I did not mean buyer protection cases, but rather cases where, for example, a buyer gets a refund even though they missed deadlines.
Money and vouchers should also not be combined.
To sum up, it’s about pure goodwill payments that a buyer is actually not entitled to.
