Logical inconsistencies in the item attributes, probably caused by AI
I recently posted something again after a long break. A lot has changed. Needless to say, with most of the changes I see or have seen no advantages at all as a user. Now there are lists with item attributes. These are apparently fed by the frequency of user entries. And so completely irrelevant or far too many entries end up in these lists. Example: For an art item, under "Material" you get collection terms like wood, but also driftwood or cypress. If this keeps going, eventually all types of wood will be in the list. Under the sub-item "Format," which I would have called "type of artwork" instead, terms like didgeridoo or mobile phone appear alongside statue or bust. That clearly does not belong here. Under "Motif," things then become all over the place and no longer usable for the user. From what feels like thousands of terms, you then scroll not only through terms that are quite fitting for art, such as Air Jordan or bulletin board, but also through very explicit entries such as Alice in Wonderland, which makes the whole thing unusable. Suggestion: just leave it out. There are millions of motifs. What annoyed me greatly again in this context: eBay still completely shuts itself off from its users. If the bot AI fails in its responses and you then want to contact customer service, you are once again only directed to some general help pages, where you can find no way to report problems with the website. The company is too big, the return has to be right, and service gets pushed to the back burner.

Hello @iti-hq and thank you very much for your honest feedback. We appreciate your perspective and warmly welcome you back to eBay!
The lists of suggested item specifics in the listing tool do not expand infinitely ; they are updated depending on what other sellers frequently enter for their items. I just listed an art item myself to see which item specifics are suggested, and I passed along your observations as a suggestion for improvement.

·1 year agoHello, recently I saw pictures of a shipwreck, where a sailor was clinging to a refrigerator and was rescued. Modern refrigerators float, because they have so much insulating material!
Now I'm wondering whether there is a market for refrigerators among sea travelers?
Regards, Jürgen
PS : A good salesman sells an Eskimo a refrigerator !!!!
