Option to attach PDFs
It would be nice if (selected? verified?) sellers could attach not only images but also PDFs.
Most return labels, for example, are in PDF format so they can be made available to customers.
Usually you have to ask the customers for their email address, and unfortunately that sometimes leads to the most amazing results, even up to threats of account suspension by eBay security when you exchange email addresses 😖
I’m deliberately writing "selected ? verified ? sellers" above because I am very aware that PDFs are the new ".exe" files, since they can hide embedded downloaders.
Maybe there is a solution for how to properly provide customers with a PDF return label ... JPG is one option, but unfortunately it has already happened that DHL couldn’t read the label because the barcode resolution was too unclear.

After we have clarified that sending PDF files by email also works from Outlook or Thunderbird, one problem still remains for some users.
Some email providers such as GMX have a folder called "Unknown senders" in their folder structure. Anything that cannot be clearly filtered ends up in this folder. Manual access is required, which only works via the provider's website.
When retrieving the mailbox via the named email programs, the folder is not synchronized. So the email can be found neither in "Spam" nor in the normal "Inbox".
As a general rule, however, it remains desirable that PDF invoices can be sent within internal communication.

·11 months agoHello, it’s not just about return labels. Many customers want to receive an invoice from me as a PDF after making a purchase. Here I have no way to send the customer an invoice.
Best regards

·11 months agoHello,
yes, that would be much easier.
Just send the invoice through your own email program.
Or just include an invoice with the shipment, since you’ll mostly have commercial buyers anyway.

Hello @sammlerkiste-1-2-3 - just confirming once again that your request for a PDF upload function in the eBay messaging system (for "verified" sellers) has been received.
We know that manually providing return labels costs you a lot of resources. For this reason, the automated handling of return requests has been further expanded, so that return labels no longer have to be sent manually via eBay messages or by email. (By the way: Since the launch, we have been reading here in the community the reasons why some of you are currently not using this offer).
So: Thank you for your contribution and the exchange here - very valuable!
Best regards
Miriam

OP2 years agoHello Miriam,
inspired by your posting, I have submitted another new suggestion for improvement:

Thanks for the feedback.
Then I'll give it a try 🙂

OP2 years agoYou did understand that correctly, right?
PDF only works via email ... it's always been that way ... if the email isn't intercepted 😎

Since when has sending PDFs been supported, as @sonja@ebay describes it?
That would actually have been an important change that could have been announced too.

·2 years ago@ttd4it , most of the time such updates on the marketplace are visible in the seller news.

·2 years agoHello @sammlerkiste-1-2-3 , The alias email addresses work exactly like the buyers' actual email addresses. Sending PDF files is supported. The server forwards the mail to the recipient's external email system.
The change was made to better meet our users' privacy needs and also to reduce the risk of spam, harassment, and transactions outside of eBay.

OP2 years agoHi, thanks a lot for the feedback,
that this doesn't work should actually be known to you 😋, the emails never get through with the note (roughly): "The email could not be sent because it violates our communication policies" ... hence my request that PDFs can be sent here via eBay message. It should technically be possible to remove PDFs that contain active content (download programs), so that only "clean" PDFs can be sent.
Best regards

·2 years agoWell, I was already promised that over the phone years ago, back when there was still proper customer service! Nothing has happened to this day! Technically, it would probably be possible, but who wants the eBay programmers tinkering around again. They can't even get simple requirements solved, or it takes forever.

·2 years agoHello Swen @sammlerkiste-1-2-3 , yes, some sellers report challenges with alias email addresses. According to the system, eBay Email Intermediation supports attachments of the following types: PDF, DOC, TXT, JPG, JPEG, PNG, BMP and TIFF. The maximum total size of attachments is 10 MB.
Please note that this differs from normal messages sent through eBay to members. Here, the formats JPG, GIF, BMP and PNG are supported and the total size is 5 MB per message.

OP2 years agoHello Sonja,
thanks for the summary of the current state, which we all know.
But hopefully the problem (the suggestion for improvement) has been read, understood, and if necessary forwarded to the right place?

·1 year agoI've been trying for quite a long time to find an answer on eBay to the question: can I sell my self-created PDF files as a construction consultant. I can't find the categories information products, miscellaneous, or [not on eBay] format.
Can anyone help?

·8 months agoHello Sonja,
I just had to save 14 pages of the user manual from pdf as jpg by screenshot so that I could send them to the customer. pdf is NOT the devil’s work and the world standard. I kindly ask you to escalate this issue and to FINALLY make pdf attachments possible (as far as I’m concerned, limited to 5 MB if necessary). I’ve been annoyed by this for 15 years because only image files work.
Thanks
Adka

Customers as private sellers?
And that for 15 years?

·8 months agosorry, I was logged in with my personal account and not with my company account. Thanks for the heads-up

·8 months agoWhat exactly is private about these previous sales and current offers?
At the very least, no private seller has that kind of quantity over the years.
gg-gutundguenstig
·2 years agoUnfortunately, lately it has been happening more and more often that emails do not arrive - presumably being filtered out. WITHOUT any feedback!
The buyer then gets in touch annoyed (rightly so), saying, for example, that the return label still has not arrived.
Sending PDFs is a MUST these days!

Unfortunately, the emails look like spam and are sent straight to the spam filter by many mail programs.
I often have to ask customers to check their spam folder when they ask for their invoice.
That ties up resources that could be used elsewhere. An upload function for invoices in the buyer’s transaction, or PDFs, as on other sales platforms too, wouldn’t be a bad idea.
