Reporting prohibited items

Hello everyone,
for months I have been reporting items from a certain seller that violate eBay policies and are prohibited by criminal law in Germany. These reports are also checked and removed by the system. But after a few days, these items reappear because the seller simply relists the items repeatedly! W**Ouch**likely already automated. As a reporter who cares about the quality of eBay, you are fighting a windmill at that point.
Wouldn't it be appropriate to build in an escalation level? For example, if the seller has xy justified and verified violations within a year and keeps breaking the rules, to impose a sanction? For example, a selling ban or exclusion from the eBay platform? With appropriate notice to the seller?
I would appreciate a solution, as my time is also limited.

if such reports are recognized as violations, Ebay of course imposes sanctions. However, since these are subject to data protection, you won't read anything about them here.

thanks for your response. The problem is that the violations are not always recognized by ebay itself, but by us users. The platform has already received hundreds of reports from me about this one seller. Unfortunately, I see that these items are removed, but then nothing else happens. After 3-5 days, the same items are back up again.

So far I haven't managed to get a real person or contact at eBay on the phone.
It's about, among other things, this item with the eBay item no. 147326630577 or this one eBay item no. 147329242345 and dozens of others.

·2 months agoNo wonder about that! What may not be allowed on ebay.de may, under certain circumstances, be offered on other ebay platforms.

No one is forcing you to waste your limited time on something like this!
And if it’s always the same seller and they keep relisting the same items only for them to be removed again, then maybe eBay will eventually, sometime in the distant future, also consider further sanctions.

OP2 months agoOkay, thanks for the heads-up. So if someone commits a crime, am I supposed to look the other way?
I expected this to be feedback for the eBay platform and what could be improved, not whether my behavior is right or wrong.

And if the Spaniard doesn't list it on ebay.de, then ebay.de can't really do anything anyway

OP2 months ago@perfect-sally Thank you for your quick reply. I want to understand this: So if a seller on ebay (Spain) lists an item that is forbidden both in Spain and in Germany. And I get the item shown to me on eBay Germany and report it, then eBay can't do anything? Why can't eBay do anything then? Why am I offered a reporting option in Germany that even works? Is the solution that I submit a report on eBay.es?

·2 months agoYou seem to know the laws in Spain pretty well. And if he is banned in Germany then we can't know here why he is being reported. Please ask eBay about that.
And why should ebay.de intervene in the affairs of ebay.es, or even be able to?
If one eBay platform were to intervene in the other eBay platforms, or could do so, then it would be complete chaos.
Feel free to try whether you can report something on ebay.es and see what comes of it.

I took a look at the Playmobil little figures, and @kiste24 is not entirely wrong. The symbols are banned in Germany. If you look at it really strictly, shouldn't Ebay.de then block/hide these listings for Germany to prevent a purchase in Germany? (because after all, it's banned here)
All the seller's other listings could of course remain unaffected by this
The seller still has the rest of the world to offer these items to.

I’m also surprised that the listings are visible on ebay.de.
But that would somehow explain why the seller seems to keep relisting them
because they apparently aren’t prohibited for him.
But with eBay, you never really know where you stand anyway.

that is exactly what happened to me years ago, when erotic sleazy films (allowed on eBay.de) with corresponding covers (e.g. breasts, even drawn ones) were repeatedly deleted by eBay.com from California (no, I did not offer the items in the USA). Stricter rules apply in prudish the US, as we all know.
After several interventions at eBay.de, that was then stopped and has not happened again since, but it was quite a bit of work for me.
The employees at eBay Germany also couldn't understand back then why US eBay was deleting items here in Germany, but it did happen...

But it’s still pretty outrageous when one platform messes around on another.

where do you see a criminal offense in the listing 147326630577? I only see a Wehrmacht truck with soldiers and prisoners.
Neither a swastika nor uniforms of the former Waffen-SS. If this were my listing, I would appeal the deletion just like the seller.

OP2 months agoAnd please look at the picture properly before you reply. The "prisoners" have Jewish stars and the "Wehrmacht soldiers" have SS symbols.

I’m definitely not going to look at all the offers you mentioned.
I looked at one offer and it was okay, in my opinion. In offer 147326630577 I neither see a yellow star nor SS symbols.
Please don’t expect me to look at all the items mentioned now.
