Introduce a new “Archive” section in the seller cockpit
Summary: The discussion thread about introducing a new 'Archive' section in the seller cockpit contains posts without content.
Hello,
In the seller dashboard, there used to be the sections “Ended” and “Unsold listings.” A while ago, these sections were combined into the new category “Inactive.” I suggest additionally introducing an “Archive” section, with the option to move items between “Inactive” and “Archive.”
In the “Archive,” items can be stored that the seller does not want to offer for sale again for the time being, for example because they are seasonal items or because - in the case of a larger assortment - the monthly quota has been used up and the seller wants to prioritize. In the current menu structure, items that one does not want to continue offering at first must either be filtered out manually or deleted altogether in order to list them again at a later date. In both cases, this takes time, which could be avoided by moving such listings to an “Archive.”

Hello @evancortez, and thank you very much for your suggestion and the detailed description of the use case.
We currently view the introduction of an additional "Archive" category critically. The term would create the expectation that listings there would be stored permanently or at least for a very long period of time. In fact, inactive listings are removed from the system after 90 days at the latest, as @bootyooty already wrote here. An archive function could therefore quickly lead to misunderstandings if users assume they can "park" their listings there indefinitely. Even today, there is occasionally confusion when drafts or older listings are no longer available after the retention periods have expired.
In addition, the seller cockpit is currently intentionally not designed as an inventory management system. The management of seasonal assortments, larger item inventories, or listing templates kept available for the long term is therefore usually handled via external solutions or separate inventory management systems.
Nevertheless, thank you for the suggestion and for describing your use case. Feedback like this helps us better understand the needs of our sellers.
Best regards
Miriam

·4 months agoHi @evancortez that would require enormous storage capacity on eBay's part, and it's not for nothing that items that have been sold/ended can no longer be viewed for more than 90 days at most.
Private sellers can save these items as drafts and regularly save them again so they don't get lost. Or store them externally.
Otherwise, I think that an "extensive assortment" or "seasonal goods" is more likely to be relevant for commercial sellers. Especially if a monthly quota is no longer enough, registering the eBay account as a commercial one would probably be necessary.
