Return shipping own label
Hello eBay team,
as nice as the eBay shipping labels are, you should also provide the option to choose your own labels (just like it used to be before).
Because in your text it says:
" According to the seller's return policy, you are responsible for the return shipping costs. To make the return easier, you can buy a return label directly from eBay. The cost of the shipping label includes VAT. "
and if you don't even have the option to select your own shipping label, then that's not a choice but a requirement.
Best regards
André

·1 year agoIn any case, I’ll be sure to check carefully in future whether I’m buying items on Ebay that I might end up returning. I’d rather order from *A*m*a*z*o*n* instead. There, that’s not an issue at all, and in most cases it’s free anyway.

·1 year agoI’m currently facing the same problem too.
I’ve now sent the provider the cancellation by email and will frank it myself and send it back.
Ebay is really annoying sometimes...

·1 year agoReally a joke what’s going on there! I’m definitely not going to buy a more expensive label on eBay! I’d rather sort it out directly with the seller. That works just as well. He can also cancel the purchase and refund the money without the return being handled through eBay.

·1 year agoUnfortunately, you can't enter your tracking number anywhere when returning with your own label. The help says you should contact eBay customer service. But that's unfortunately a chatbot that keeps pointing you back to the same place. You can go round in circles nicely there. I think eBay deliberately doesn't make it easy to use your own label. It certainly makes money when it goes through them.
Poor customer service but apparently it pays off 😞

Send the item back within 10 business days with tracking. Protect yourself against false claims by also uploading the tracking number if you use your own shipping label.

·1 year agoI think you didn't understand quite a few things about it! There are plenty of options, but why should eBay make those available too?
You have the option to buy your labels wherever you want, and then the tracking number just has to be entered in the return.

·1 year agoAnd why not simply have "use your own return label" with the option to enter the tracking number directly there? Instead, you have to contact eBay customer service so that the tracking number is added. It’s made extra cumbersome so that you use the more expensive shipping label provided by eBay, because eBay makes money from it.

·1 year agoBecause there had already been cheating with the “own” labels using the tracking numbers entered manually.
You can contact customer service or report it here to have the tracking number entered.

·1 year agoSo here’s the info for everyone: there is no option in the return process, you can’t get any further in the system. Return costs are therefore actually higher than with your own return selection. Maybe then you can contact Ebay customer service and have them upload something manually. Whether this is for fraud reasons or not I can’t judge, but Ebay easily adds 20% on top of the standard shipping costs!
