Return: Seller provides an incorrect Hermes tracking ID
I had to request a return on eBay for all four items.
A return label was then provided by the seller for the return after all, for all four items together in one Hermes package. So I packed everything neatly, dropped it off today at the Hermes shop, pickup from the Hermes shop tomorrow. Now I’ve just discovered the following: today I’m being shown a refund on eBay for one of the four items. Also: the seller didn’t enter the actual, correct Hermes tracking ID on eBay under "tracking information," but rather the so-called "eBay return" (the one listed on the return label at the bottom, under "partner information"). How is eBay supposed to recognize now that the package is on its way and will have arrived with the seller?

Hello @rhapsonia,
I can see that your seller has issued the refund to you for all items on 04/12/2025.
@petersmodellbahnstuebchen Thank you very much for tagging me 🤗

·8 months agoHi @rhapsonia
dear @nina@ebay is not online today. If she was tagged, you should check in a timely manner whether she has replied, and not follow up after more than 2 weeks.
Maybe dear @selina_b@ebay can take a look at the process, thanks Selina.🤗

OP8 months agoAnd third question, to come back to the original question as well: What needs to be done in the future, where should one turn, (link, phone number) so that when a wrong shipping number is entered, something is DONE?

You do have your part of the label - the tracking number is on it!
With that, you can track the package’s journey starting tomorrow!
What the saleswoman enters (presumably she just mistyped the number) is irrelevant anyway.

OP8 months agoThat wasn’t the question at all, how I recognize it - but rather: how does ebay! on eBay the refund depends on whether the return was proven to have been delivered.
As soon as ebay sees that the item has arrived, ebay can remind the seller and ask her to transfer the money back now.
Besides, there’s nothing to it and it’s quick to correct the right number afterwards! Why isn’t that a given?
How can I tell that the seller generated the return label via eBay, then the tracking number would automatically be stored in the system.
(eBay can track the shipment directly and see when it was delivered to the seller.
In this case it doesn’t matter whether the seller enters the ID correctly – eBay already has the data anyway.)
But if it’s the other case, namely that the seller provided the shipping label, then she should enter the tracking number correctly. Because if she doesn’t, eBay can’t automatically recognize the delivery. Of course, I as the buyer have the tracking number on my posting receipt, so shipping can be proven at any time, but THAT means manual effort, loss of time [roughly: like having to contact ebay, open cases no longer works the way it used to, where you upload the proof etc. etc. …]… or just: harassment. As someone who’s been burned before, I immediately expect the worst in such things; especially with the seller’s previous behavior, one senses something bad. But okay, for now I’m hoping that the label was created via ebay.....

OP8 months agoHello,
according to eBay I should wait until today, 03/12, but so far no refund (only, as described, on the first day for one of the four items),... so here are the item numbers:
388655736381
235810532890
235841075460
[Receipt of the goods, the return, on Fri., via Hermes, screenshots of this are also available... ]
Thank you in advance for your efforts

OP8 months agoI had feared it, and it actually happened: after I opened a case for all three items, I got the response from ebay
“A decision has been made for this case
Hello Rhapsonia,
We have not received any shipping or tracking information that proves you returned the item to the seller.
After reviewing all the details of this case, it was decided not to issue you a refund.”
I was never even asked for my proof; I didn’t even have the CHANCE to present all my evidence!!
So the seller can just get away with negative feedback?! How criminally cunning.
After that, I received three messages informing me that I would get my money refunded…..
BUT now there are certainly notes somewhere at ebay saying that I didn’t even send anything back,... really great!!! no, mean.

OP8 months agoQUESTION now:
So will the money that PayPal announced to me now be charged back again after all?
And: how can I get eBay to delete false entries about me now (that I supposedly didn’t ship)?
Can’t anyone here answer that?
