Refurbished offers
Hello, I just have to get something off my chest. Unfortunately, you can’t contact Ebay customer service,
but maybe someone there will read this anyway.
It’s about the Refurbished offers, in German, if I understood it correctly, “Generalüberholt”,
at least that’s how it is presented in the description.
Since the end of November I’ve been trying to buy an HP 800 G5 mini or something similar, and now it’s the end of January
and I still don’t have a PC.
In the meantime, I’ve bought and returned “9” of these mini PCs because the supposed
refurbished devices had some kind of defect. Either something was missing, or it didn’t work, or it had a
technical fault that could have been noticed and fixed if it had been properly checked.
But that just isn’t the case.
Since these are mostly lease returns that the seller buys in different quantities, the devices are probably just taken from the pile, packed up, and sent to the customer.
After the 5th return, Ebay told me I was violating Ebay’s principles and abusing trust.
In other words, I was made out to be a “fun shopper.”
That is, to put it mildly, not nice for a long-time customer and seller with 100%.
Am I supposed to throw my hard-earned money out the window for defective devices?
I bought the PCs in a wide range of price classes, from €240 to €390.
No, I’m not petty or overly fussy.
If there are some signs of use, fine, if it works.
But it says “Condition: Very good” and what do I get sent? A deep dent on the front,
right where you always look when the device is placed in front of you, which is normal for this size.
I would hereby ask Ebay to also set down principles for sellers here.
Because up to now, “Refurbished” has been abused by some.

We always try to make our site better and will take another closer look at the sellers you reported to check whether the strict rules for participation in the Refurbished program at eBay are being followed.
However, it is also important for you to know that the item condition "very good" does not mean new, but can also show signs of use. You can also read the definitions of the Refurbished item conditions here, for example.
We are aware that this is always very subjective. What one seller considers "very good" may be perceived differently by buyers.
The warning you received has so far had no effect on future returns, and if an item differs from the description, you are still protected by our buyer protection. However, due to the challenges described in your topic, we have decided to reverse this warning for you so that you can continue to return items if needed. Before return requests are opened, it can be helpful to first speak with the providers; some things can be clarified better and more satisfactorily in a phone call, for example.
