Reminder for the watchlist
Hey hey,
a suggestion for improving Ebay would be a reminder option / push notification for business sellers for the watch list.
If potential buyers now add their items to the watch list but otherwise don’t do anything else, then we as business sellers should have the option to send out a notification after at least one week or a time period XY, with the additional option of being able to offer a discount.
An example of this would be:
"Your watch list misses you. You still have item XY on your watch list. Buy now and save XY % on the purchase."
This would be a pretty good tool and shouldn’t be that hard to integrate, because when you have items on your watch list yourself, you also get messages from Ebay that they’re still there.
There will be some business sellers who have a certain number of watchers on a certain number of items.
Opinions on this?
Bye for now, and see you soon.

·1 year agoI have items on my watch list that I might buy, but maybe not. The controllable expenses always play an important role in that.
But I do NOT need it when emails arrive with the subject "Item reminder..." and the heading "Everyone deserves a second chance". That's annoying, and in my eyes aggressive advertising. I know what I want to buy, and what I don't.

Hello @myeatnordic and thank you for your suggestion! I find the exchange about it very interesting and we will keep monitoring whether there is a need for a reminder option for items on the watchlists as you suggested, and we’ll be happy to raise the idea internally at the next opportunity 🙂.
Best regards

OP2 years agoHey hey,
@bootyooty I understand, and that’s why only if someone has had the items on their watchlist for a period of XY and nothing happens. If a seller has it on their watchlist, then they’ll also get an offer sent for it. That shouldn’t get in the way of watching the prices.
@sinmarfi this isn’t about newsletters, but about a one-time reminder (that really can only be sent once), and only for the item that the person is watching.
Yes, you have to see how you can do or implement that, because if someone is watching 3 items, it’s annoying to get 3 emails. So some kind of bundled offer would be pretty reasonable. Saves time, shipping costs, and the price is usually cheaper too.
@gebraucht-ist-gut Yes, there is, but it only works once. So if you’ve used that and the item is still being watched and nothing happens, then there’s a one-time chance to send an offer and whatever happens after that, happens.
Automatic price suggestions are good too, but this is about the issue of someone having the item on their watchlist for weeks/months.
The process could look like this:
A potential customer looks at it and puts the item on their watchlist.
The seller sends a price suggestion and nothing happens.
After a period of XY (at least 1 week), the seller can once again send a bundled suggestion for the item(s) on the watchlist.
After that, the seller has no further option.
There are options that are used, and there are certainly many more options that are interesting for both sides.
Hej då, och vi ses.

·2 years agoThe best solution and very sensible would be if eBay didn’t keep tinkering with the system all the time. There are plenty of things that need fixing; there’s no need to program new ones on top of that. If people have items on their watch list, then they should know that too, and once it’s done, they should just delete the items. I also think there’s no need for a "Reminder" on top of that.

·2 years agoExactly,
I’ve got tons of items on there - and I don’t want tons of reminders every time now.
That would totally get on my nerves. You automatically get a reminder 24h before the end anyway - that should be enough.

You can send price suggestions to your watchers at any time via the seller cockpit, provided they want that and have activated it. Well, on eBay it would probably be more like they haven’t deactivated it ...
You can send discounts there at any time.

·2 years agoHello @myeatnordic ,
I’m someone who also likes to try new things when it comes to food and has agreed to receive newsletters from numerous providers
.
But if you’re constantly bombarded with
- Last chance
- One-time special offer
- Don’t miss your chance
- Handpicked exclusively for you
- The best of the best
- Selected items now even cheaper
etc..........................
you can end up revoking newsletter subscriptions
you have wanted for years.
Just recently sent a red card to a wine merchant.
At some point, enough is enough with all this fussing.

·2 years agoHey... from a buyer's perspective:
oh no, I don't want to get even more unsolicited offers then.
Sometimes watching has completely different reasons than an intention to buy.
Many sellers also watch items to see what prices are being achieved because they want to sell such an item later too, or buyers who then also see when a discount has taken place.
The PV I get just from clicking the item twice is already enough for me.🙄
