Hello @chriskle72, it would be great if you could reserve items on eBay, and I understand that this would be helpful for many people. Hello @chriskle72 What do you mean by reserving? Even there, where you can reserve, you enter into binding contracts with a reservation. Namely when seller and buyer agree on the price.

Here, purchases are binding, in accordance with the German Civil Code, payments must be made within 4 days, reservations are available on other platforms.

I don’t do that for individual items of low value either. But if a customer writes to me and wants to buy a larger bundle, I create an offer for the whole package and end the individual offers. The new offer is then posted at the customer’s desired time and I send them the link to the offer. That works in 99% of all cases too. If, contrary to expectations, the purchase doesn’t happen, the new offer is canceled and the individual items are simply listed again.
I’d do it the same way as you, but in my opinion that’s not the reserving that the OP means.
And unofficially sellers can handle it however they want, but an official function where the item might still become invisible like on other platforms would probably be too much of a good thing for eBay.
Of course, there are ways and means to be found if a seller is willing to go along with it. Though in communication, care must be taken very carefully to make sure you don’t pick up a violation. With a commercial seller it’s still relatively easy, since the contact details are visible. With a private seller, it’s considerably more difficult. I can’t understand why instant purchases can’t also be paid later, depending on each seller’s settings. No seller is forced to accept later payments. But for those who do want to go along with it, there should be options. There are just people who are less liquid by the end of the month and would like to wait a few days to pay. Before eBay introduced payment processing, that existed too.

If you want to reserve items, then you need to use a different platform. Fortunately, eBay doesn't have that.

·1 year agoThere was already something like that indirectly. You could buy something and pay later with the seller's agreement before the purchase.
And with Buy Now, there's also no 4-day period to pay.

I’d find official reserving, with the offers being hidden from other interested parties at the same time, pretty disgusting too.
As a seller, I want to be able to decide for myself whether I “set aside” some items.
