Bad apples among the shipping providers.
Summary: 500gb expresses frustration with certain shipping service providers, suggesting that platforms or sellers should be required to specify the delivery service upfront to avoid unreliable experiences. perfect-sally believes that shipping details are typically specified and part of the purchase contract, suggesting that buyers ask beforehand if details aren't clear. lidor3073 shares their practice of offering multiple delivery options, allowing buyers to choose the preferred service at checkout. petersmodellbahnstuebchen doubts the possibility of a clear ranking of delivery services, noting experiences are often dependent on regional providers and past issues with certain companies' customer service. The discussion covers general dissatisfaction with specific delivery services without naming them directly.
Surely it should be possible for the platform or the sellers to be required to state their respective shipping provider, bindingly, right in the listing or at the latest when purchasing. The difference is so drastic that, with certain providers, I would have gladly refrained from buying beforehand. You get an email (or more), wait for days, only to end up being lied to (it’ll arrive today - or not, not found at home, name not found, or "unfortunately it didn’t work out today, tomorrow - maybe") or (it feels like) being taken for a ride. On top of that, some are extremely slow, unreliable, and rude. It’s a win/win for everyone involved if these bad apples are identified and finally forced by the decisions of buyers, sellers, and the platform operator to improve their service or disappear from the market.

·1 week agoHello @500gb ,
the sellers specify the shipping provider.
If it says shipping " Other" there, you could ask before buying how it will be shipped; in other words, with which shipping company.
And I myself have also once not been at home, even though I was at home. 😎

·1 week agoHi @500gb
whether this results in a clear "ranking" of the shipping providers, I find very questionable. In my opinion, that depends very strongly, on the one hand, on the local delivery person and, on the other hand, from the seller's point of view, heavily on the shipping provider's complaints management.
I myself used to ship with Hermes until a few years ago, but at some point I got fed up with the fact that when there were problems with delivery, you always only got a voucher for a new Hermes parcel and nothing more.
For purchases, that doesn't really matter to me, since both Hermes's delivery people and DHL's are absolutely top.
Best wishes from the Baltic Sea

·1 week agoI select 2 shipping providers, set up the offer and the buyer can choose at checkout whether DHL or Hermes. Or for small items, registered mail with tracking number. Other shipping providers are unacceptable to me and that’s why I offer the ones that are best for me for the buyer to choose from. And if not, then it’s because of the dimensions/weight of my items, then I take the one that fits the item (also DHL or Hermes or registered mail with tracking number), because it has to be packed accordingly too; as is well known, buyers don’t want to receive rubble.
So for me that is binding and in the end the buyer chooses bindingly.

·1 week agoAs far as I know, you specify the shipping provider and shipping costs before the item is even uploaded. And in my opinion, that is also binding and part of the purchase contract.
If some sellers then only state "Other" or "Parcel shipping," they do have the option to do that, but then you don’t have to buy there if no clear details were given. You could also ask in advance.
