Pissed off! Please change the rating type and time limit for BUYERS
In the past, as a customer, you could still leave a review later if there was fraud, faulty goods, or inadequate financial compensation for returns.
Now, in my case, it is clearly obvious that this opens the door wide for fraud and for gaining a supposedly top rating by deceit.
The following happened:
With
Goods ordered and delivered quickly, so far so good.
BUT:
Goods defective, so request for replacement with urgency note (vacation)
"Reaction": are you sure... (yes), really sure.. (yes)
please provide proof... (photo taken, need the goods urgently..)
Photo isn't enough... video please (have to call a mechanic separately - takes some time... But due to the slowness announced and the urgency, I had to buy elsewhere). Whatever!
Recorded a video...
Corrosion? (No)
Fine, agree to exchange (no, I announced that I would order elsewhere because of the urgency mentioned..)
Sorry, may we send you a replacement product (NO, read!)
Ok.. (how do we do this with the return? Return label?)
Replacement goods? (No, return label please)
We don't have a return label, please pay the postage, it will be refunded immediately upon receipt of the goods. (Proof of return - 4 weeks ago)
Arrived, but we only reimburse return postage costs up to €4 (well, chose the cheapest at the post office, not a dealer, your goods are defective)
ok please provide PayPal account, are you okay with €4 (no, read)
ok will arrange as soon as possible..
(Helloooo where is the money)
Sorry, pay by the day after tomorrow... (hello..), sorry for the mistake.. next week (hello), I'll pass it on today (hello.. otherwise I have to report it), sorry... Friday (hello...hello...hello..) Silence!
I can now NOT review this fraudulent behavior (since the goods were taken back and I got the money ONLY for the goods).
This seems to be their scheme and the eBayer has a 100% rating and no negative feedback! This is NOT a joke!
In the past, this seller would have received an extremely negative review (also as a warning to other customers!). With this fraud the seller seems to get away with it, and that seems to be something they know too!
IMPUDENCE
A disservice to customers by E-Bay!
Ebay customer service... uh, they would have given you a return label from us... (yes great, thanks for the tip, what about the fraudster now.....?) €5 voucher from us and write an email to the seller (up to now no email copy of either...)...
🤬
If needed, I’m happy to share the insane communication over weeks!!!

·9 months agoHello @slyceynot,
the 60-day deadline for reviewing a seller has, to my knowledge, always existed. (but I'm happy to be corrected 😁).
From the way you're describing it, it sounds like you bought from a Chinese seller, possibly with a warehouse here in Germany.
Meanwhile, though, there’s a much more customer-friendly method in the first 30 days. You open a case for a defective / not as described item, and the seller has to take the item back and create a return label. Alternatively, they can also refund without insisting on a return.

From May 22, 2008 = 60-day review period

OP9 months agoYour guess, I’m guessing that too by now. Shipping address is in Germany.
I used to be able to leave feedback forever, even if the transaction was cancelled.
What good are 30 days to me if I don’t know that and, from the seller’s point of view, a straightforward, quick exchange doesn’t seem to be wanted? 30 days for everything, just to get to the return shipment alone!

·9 months agoI can only recommend the advice from support. Don’t keep dragging this out, the matter is over.
You should be more annoyed with yourself.
Familiarize yourself with eBay’s rules regarding deadlines and returns/complaints, because that usually works pretty well.
Even before buying, you should not only look at the item location, but also pay attention to the seller’s location.
These sellers get away with these kinds of practices only because buyers let them do it. In particular, Chinese sellers know quite well how to lull buyers into a false sense of security until the complaint period has expired.
It starts with them addressing their messages with "my dear friend".
For the future:
Pay attention to where you buy.
Don’t wait too long and definitely don’t fall for promises.
If necessary, leave a negative rating; a rating can also be changed if you want that.
A few days’ patience is no problem. You can make that much concession to any seller, but letting yourself be strung along for so long is your own fault.......
There’s no need to extend the deadlines either.

·9 months agoIn the past, how long could you leave a review? @slyceynot
When was the purchase?
The seller comes from Germany?

OP9 months agoPurchase was in the 2nd week of August,
Defect was found at the mechanic's appointment about 10 days later.
He measured everything, old device was drawing power, however not all LEDs were working anymore. After my report of the defect, the seller insisted on a photo (even though no LED was working - unlike the old one - what does he want to see there?). I also explained that I needed it urgently (I only wanted a functional replacement product). Later the photo was no longer enough, please send a video (again mechanic appointment, but with the warning that I would then have to look for another product). After the forced video, only then came the return address without a return label etc.. A couple of days later, follow-up - the pins on the lamp could be a little bent.., although I had written that a mechanic had checked everything (the function would have been in my interest too)..
By now it was already the beginning of September!!!
Return received: refund of the item value immediately..
Promise of shipping costs as soon as possible.... how, when, where.... and it dragged on (really great vacation if you constantly have to write and think about it!
Well, since I think around October 12 there has been no more reply..
Seller stock at least in DE
I was just in the beginning phase, where I think I could have rated for what felt like forever.

·9 months agoWas the seller legally convicted of fraudulent behavior? You should be very careful with such accusations in public, they can seriously backfire!
And 60 days to leave a review is absolutely enough!
How long would you like to be able to leave a review? For life? And in the end, you did let yourself be strung along for a long time, and because of that you want an endlessly long deadline for a review? eBay is definitely not going to change anything because of you!

OP9 months agoGood day
How would you describe this behavior, that it was obviously waited out with being strung along until this rating period had expired? Unfortunately, by his tactic alone the seller delayed the return shipment by 30 days, only to then “sweeten” the holiday with conversation and, after agreeing to refund the full postage (after consulting), put me off until the end of the week, then sorry, within the next few days, oh sorry in 2 days for sure. Of course not every reply came immediately...
Isn’t that fraudulent?
I’ve never given a bad rating. Back in the early days you could rate forever, in my opinion!
Go ahead and call me naive, but the seller’s behavior is fraudulent; after all, he didn’t reimburse the postage that I had to advance by force (didn’t know anything about return labels via eBay.. have never returned anything!!!), contrary to our agreement, NOTHING (€0) was refunded!
BTW it was urgent and from mid-September I was on vacation and had annoying back-and-forth during my holiday. So I don’t want to know how you would react here...
As the “cherry on top” of all the hassle, the seller seems to be getting away with the trick, because he has nothing to fear from a negative rating (since the sale was canceled and the money refunded in that regard)!
I called eBay, and she told me she couldn’t do much, except send a mail to the seller and offered a €5 credit, and said that was still harmless and I shouldn’t stress about it any further....
I didn’t receive either this credit or the usual email copy to the seller, except for a request for feedback for eBay customer service.....
How am I supposed to rate this now?!
Ps:
On the one hand I understand sellers who also have to put up with idiots as buyers, but reverse cases should also be taken just as seriously! Anything else is hypocritical nonsense!
Thanks
