Suggestion for improvement: urgently overhaul the shopping cart function!
Hello everyone,
I’d like to vent my frustration here about the current shopping cart function on eBay – in the hope that it reaches the people responsible and is taken seriously.
It’s really annoying that the shopping cart on eBay is limited to a maximum of 95 items. Anyone who buys a lot at once or wants to collect items first and decide later quickly hits a limit here.
What I find even worse, however, is how cumbersome it is to manage the shopping cart. There’s a basic function missing that’s long been standard on other platforms – for example on Ama*on:
Why can’t you select items in the shopping cart using checkboxes and then delete, buy, or move several at once to the watchlist?
Right now I have to click each individual item manually if I want to move it to the watchlist, for example – and then delete each one separately from the shopping cart again. That wastes unnecessary time and nerves.
I find that extremely user-unfriendly and honestly outdated. Especially eBay, with its huge range of listings, should improve this significantly to increase convenience for buyers.
My wish for eBay:
Please revise the shopping cart function and add multiple selection with actions (delete, watch, buy) – that would be a real step toward better usability and customer satisfaction!
Does anyone else feel this way too?
I’d be happy to hear feedback or similar experiences.
Best regards
Adrian

Hello @format.exe - even if a new topic would probably have been better for your concern for the sake of clarity, I was happy to look into it for you. At the moment, however, I still can't understand exactly what's not working for you. Could you please describe in more detail what challenge occurs when you click "Save for later" or "Remove" on items in your cart?
Best regards
Miriam

·11 months agoHello Miriam,
thanks for following up. Just now I reopened my account and, lo and behold, I was able to delete the items in the shopping cart. Yesterday it didn’t work. I tried several times throughout the day. What it was due to is unclear.
Best regards

OP1 year agoUnfortunately, the frustration continues:
The “Save for later” list is also limited to 100 items – so here too, it’s an artificial restriction that massively complicates handling larger shopping carts or longer purchasing decisions.
In addition, I now have the problem that items that are no longer available can no longer be removed from the shopping cart at all. They just get stuck there – neither moving nor deleting is possible. That makes the overview even more confusing and leads to a completely overfilled shopping cart.
And one more point about the captcha issue:
Apparently there are only two variants – either I’m supposed to select sandwiches or recognize dogs. Apart from the fact that it only gets annoying after the third time, the question is what the point is: These simple image puzzles don’t provide any serious hurdle for bots or automated processes. The promised “security for buyers” is therefore more appearance than reality.
This is really in urgent need of work on usability AND technical quality.

Hello @kleinteichfrosch, thank you very much for sharing your opinion about the shopping cart function on eBay with us. I can understand your frustration well when you run into obstacles because of the limit of 95 items and the cumbersome editing. The idea of introducing multi-select for the quick management of several items sounds like a sensible improvement and could help many users.
I know that the captcha issue when deleting items additionally affects your shopping process. It’s really not ideal when a captcha has to be solved after every second deletion. Your feedback shows us that there is an urgent need for action here to improve usability.
We also need to address the limit on the "Save for later" list and the problem of items that are no longer available in the cart. These restrictions are really annoying, and we will take these points seriously.
Your comment on the effectiveness of captcha tests as a security measure is also relevant and will be reviewed by us. Buyers should not be put off by unnecessary obstacles.
We continuously work to improve the platform, and your feedback is a valuable help in doing so. I will pass your suggestions on to the relevant colleagues so they can be taken into account in upcoming updates.
Thank you for giving us the opportunity to keep improving. I look forward to more feedback from you and other members.
Have a nice weekend ☀️

Limit the quantity of items (maximum quantity) that individual customers can add to the shopping cart?
Is that possible with Shop subscription?

OP1 year agoIt gets even better — or rather worse:
When deleting items from the cart, I now have to complete a captcha after EVERY TWO items to confirm that I am human 😤
You can’t be serious, right?
As if the tedious individual editing wasn’t annoying enough already, now you also get slowed down with every second deletion. It really isn’t fun anymore like this.
This urgently needs to be revised — this is more likely to drive users away than make shopping easier for them.
