Hello! I have a problem. This is the first time I’m selling something on eBay. I’m selling a laptop.
When I created the listing, I accidentally selected “Pickup only.” However, I wrote with the buyer, and he asked me to ship the laptop. I agreed and accepted his offer at the agreed price.
But now I don’t understand what happened. No money has arrived in my account. Instead, in my eBay account I only see a certain amount that is clearly lower than the agreed purchase price. Below that, a negative difference amount is also shown.
I don’t understand why I should have to pay anything.
Also, I definitely do not want to ship the laptop before the full purchase price has been received in my eBay account — the complete amount, not just part of it.
Could you please explain to me why this is the case and how I can solve this problem?

I'm really sorry that I can't write you anything else about this.
Basic listings are subject to fees, which the system also points out to you.
If your buyer picks up the item, it's important that you scan the code or enter in the order that the payment is released.
Please also make sure that if you list an item again, you enter the correct details, as @perfect-sally wrote to you.
Cash payment is no longer available, since payments go through us.

Item condition: New / Other and in the description you write: I’m selling a used laptop... how does that fit together?
Then: Price: negotiable (VB) 1250euro - that doesn’t exist in that form on eBay. A buyer either buys it right away or makes a price suggestion. You don’t need to include that in the description too.
Cash payment only and in-person pickup. For these items on eBay, cash payment upon pickup is not allowed!
If interested, please contact me by email or via the eBay chat or the Facebook Messenger.
And that’s not allowed either! Communication only via the eBay messaging system! You were lucky that no further details like email address or FB Messenger were provided, because otherwise your listing would have been deleted and maybe your account restricted or suspended right away!
You should have checked / researched a bit beforehand how other users listed something like this correctly, or just asked.

The reason the total amount is lower than the sale price is that you promoted your offer with basic ads. The fee for this in this case is EUR 181.77 .
The remaining amount of EUR 993.23 will be retained until the pickup has been confirmed by entering the pickup code.
You can now either accept the buyer's cancellation request to cancel the order, or ship the item; however, your buyer should then send you the pickup code by message after receiving the shipment so that you can enter it in the purchase details and thus automatically trigger the release of your payout. Without entering the pickup code, the release may be delayed.

·2 weeks agoYou need to add a payment method for the basic ads below via the "Add payment options" button before canceling the purchase. The fee will be automatically refunded to you after the purchase cancellation has been completed.

we had already spoken with each other, and I would like to thank you for your help.
I wanted to sell the laptop because I currently do not have enough money in my account. I also won’t receive any new money before the 5th.
I’m still in contact with the buyer. Today we came to the decision that he would pick up the laptop.
Is there perhaps a way to do something about this matter? Unfortunately, I can’t pay the €181 at the moment, even if I would get the amount back later.
Could a solution perhaps be found, or could I speak with someone at eBay who can look into the case and help clarify this situation?
It would be very important for me to find a solution.

You originally agreed on pickup in person (according to the listing). Now Ebay expects the item to be picked up and the buyer to give you a pickup code confirming that he has received the goods. When you enter this code, the payment to you is triggered.
If you ship now, the buyer has the goods and the money, and YOU are left with the trouble.
Maybe dear @verena@ebay can advise you on how you should proceed now, thanks Verena. ❤️
