what’s the deal with the fact that instead of a ended listing that is shown to me on Ebay in the search under Sold items, a almost irrelevant similar but active listing gets opened? Right now that’s the case with listing 286093742557; when I try to open it, I’m redirected to listing 101723842, which I’m not interested in.

·2 months agoHello everyone, eBay is getting technically worse and worse. The AI assistant is also very badly programmed and doesn’t understand. All it does is send you in circles.
I sold an item (= accepted a price offer). The item does not show up as sold.
What on earth is going on at eBay?

·2 months agoDidn’t you hear that ebay changed something there? Only when the item has been paid for is it sold and appears in the orders. Without payment, anyone can still buy and pay.

·1 year agoIf you can no longer understand the price of an item sold based on its description in the future, eBay has become uninteresting for me and many others. I פשוט can't imagine that eBay employs such stupid people at the decision-making level. Or is that the so-called shortage of skilled workers.

I can only agree, you can no longer understand the prices for an expired item, since you also have no insight into the item description, in case defects or positive extras are listed there.
Suggesting an alternative product is not what you’re looking for at that moment
I currently also have the huge problem that I can’t open one of my items and now don’t know whether the seller mentioned defects?

·1 year agoI don’t think there is an acceptable solution to this issue, but only one that eBay dictates to the user and that he has to accept, since no choice is left to him.

Hello @myregardstothedodo and @ttd4it - I looked into this as well, and this display of the item pages appears when the product catalog is set via an EAN.
If an item is no longer for sale and has therefore been removed from search, we link to items that most closely match the appropriate product, so that you only find offers that you can buy directly. After consulting with the technical team, we can confirm that this is not a bug, but that the behavior is intended.
For market research and comparison with the competition, there are other options.

OP1 year agoOkay, so that means if from now on I want to try to figure out what my item is worth so I can list it at a good price and it doesn't just sit around on eBay forever, I can't do that anymore. This change really is ... (I'd better not write what I think here; that falls under Section 185 of the German Criminal Code).

·1 year agoAll I can say about such a change is: you can also shoot yourself in the foot.
In my opinion, it borders on arrogance to assume that if the user wants to view details about a sold item, he doesn't actually want to see the sold item but something completely different.
Back to the roots: the user decides what he wants.
Finally stop the widespread patronizing everywhere.

this is yet another change from eBay that is anything but user-friendly, quite the opposite. eBay should finally solve the problem with the lists instead of making pointless changes. The user should be able to decide for themselves what they want to look at and not have everything dictated to them by eBay.
Moreover, it’s not just sold listings that are no longer shown, but also those that have ended but were not sold and could therefore possibly be listed again later by the seller. (e.g. 186710916592)
eBay suggests to people in its advertising, "No matter what your passion is, on eBay it’s at home" or "eBay, that’s you." In reality, the user is being restricted and patronized more and more. eBay imposes its will on them, in keeping with the motto "Company eavesdrop and snoop" sends its regards.

·1 year agoWell, engineering has to obey: If I call up an article with the itm number, then I expect exactly that article and not some ridiculous nonsense that is "intended."
Above all, what is that supposed to be? 💩
Fun fact: It would be better for customer loyalty if engineering were allowed to deal with real problems for once 📉

If I go via the search mask and the item name, the display works even for items that were sold, for example, as late as the end of September.
And even if it were true that listings are now consistently only shown for 30 days, it should not make any difference for items whose sale is dated 08/10/2024 on 01/11/2024. It would be different, of course, if the item had already been deleted by eBay earlier because of irregularities and therefore could no longer be accessed, so normally an error message should appear.
It has happened before that deleted items still appeared in the overview, but could no longer be accessed -> Oops, we searched everywhere.....

As soon as I use the filter with "sold items" for orientation and open ended listings, active listings are shown to me that I don't want to see.
Someone in tech must have made a mistake there - until 3-4 days ago you could still access the ended listings, now nothing is shown anymore

The ended offer is not displayed.

·1 year agoHello @myregardstothedodo , I’ve gladly taken a look at both offers. The offer with item number 286093742557 was sold on 08/10/2024 and is therefore no longer available. The offer that is shown to you instead (eBay item number 395325488832) actually has nothing to do with the first offer.
Could you please delete caches/cookies and start your search again? Maybe trying a different browser might help too.

OP1 year agoThis doesn't just affect this listing. When I search for sold console listings and open them, instead of the listing I want to open, a different active listing with a similar description is shown to me. Until recently, I at least had the option to open the listing I actually wanted to open, but that option is gone too.

·1 year agoUnfortunately, that’s pretty irrelevant. Until 2-3 days ago, it was possible in the search to set the filter under "Only Show" to "Sold Items".
All sold items were displayed, and when you clicked on one, you could see that it had ended and click to view the original listing.
That no longer works now, and that’s more than a shame, but probably rather a bug in the site’s programming...HOPEFULLY
