Shipment marked, purchase cancellation no longer possible
Hello, it’s happening more and more often that right after the purchase the item is marked as shipped. This mark is set when the shipping label is printed. From that moment on, you can no longer cancel the purchase, and the seller can then take their time for days before handing the item over to the post office.
    Current
On 24/11 the item was bought and paid for
2 minutes later the message came: item shipped with tracking
According to the description, the item is supposed to be delivered on 27/28/11.
On 27/11 shipping status: tracking number provided
But it has not been handed over yet.
The buyer does not respond to emails.
I can’t cancel the purchase anymore and order somewhere else.
    You’re left hanging
eBay only has standard responses, so no real help.
The block should only be put in place once the seller hands the item over to the post office. So that in such cases you don’t have to wait, but can cancel the purchase.
Or the seller should have to fear cancellation and stick to their shipping promise.
Because of this block, the seller has a free pass.... can promise that the item will be delivered tomorrow and then still take days or weeks.

According to the description, the item is supposed to be delivered on 27/28 Nov.

    No, it’s not.

That’s an estimated delivery date/window. If you haven’t noticed, we’re in the Christmas shopping season, when shipping can sometimes take longer.

Have you checked directly with DHL?

The tracking details on Ebay often lag behind and often don’t show the current status.

I actually never look there; I get all the relevant data by email.

The real problem is that the shipment of the scanned incoming delivery should be marked by the service provider and not by the label printing. Only then do you know when the shipment was sent. I can print a lot

This problem is due to Ebay, because technically it’s probably the easiest way to program.

That’s why I don’t rely on the details on Ebay either.

Even with DHL, the tracking isn’t always correct.

I’ve already had shipments that, like the OP’s, were listed as notification only and then delivered. It happens sometimes.

Unfortunately, we don’t know what kind of item it is (possible fraud), whether it’s from abroad or not, or whether it’s a Chinese trickster or a private slowpoke who apparently has all the time in the world.

    Hey @rene1234560

the delivery time is ALWAYS and has always only been an approximate time frame.

Which item is it about, private seller or commercial?

Yeah but eBay does that fast and the AI still doesn't respond either.

May I offer a different perspective on this? In my case, it often happens that I process and pack the shipments on the same day the payment comes in. From that point on, there is a tracking number (which is automatically stored with eBay) and the shipment is ready for DHL to pick up. I then clock off for the day, and by the time I’m back in the office the next day, DHL has already been there early in the morning and picked up the shipments. In other words: once the shipment has been packed by me, it hasn’t actually been handed over to DHL yet, but I also no longer have any way to prevent that. So I wouldn’t be able to manually agree to a cancellation in that time either, because the shipment is definitely on its way.

I imagine that’s how it is for some sellers, especially when it’s a seller with larger daily shipping volumes. You can’t just fish a shipment back out of the wire cage.

The seller can't take forever, because if he submits too late, there will be a defect.

From a certain number onward, there are sanctions from eBay.
