Good morning everyone, I have a suggestion for something that would counter negative feedback given to sellers.I’m speaking now from the perspective of a commercial seller, but it should apply to private sellers too. As a commercial eBay seller, you have so many obligations, but one certain right is missing for me in all this, namely the right to be able to make things right if something has gone wrong.We’re all only human and mistakes happen, and here they are never so dramatic that they couldn’t be resolved peacefully and fairly. Now once again to the obligations that we commercial sellers have, and there are quite a few: why doesn’t eBay require buyers, before they (prematurely) leave negative feedback, to first contact the seller to try to sort it out?I think pretty much every seller would be interested in something like that, and there are also many things for which the seller really has absolutely no fault, yet they end up getting such feedback. Example:1.Item not received. How is the seller supposed to know?2. Item arrived too late. What exactly can the seller do about that if they sent it on time?3.Color, taste, etc. not liked. That’s a matter of taste and not the seller’s fault.4.Too big or too small. The buyer should know what size they need. Those are the classics, and I would find it more than fair and advisable for buyers to first have to get in touch with the seller, and in all other matters too one should surely be able to communicate before leaving negative feedback, because such premature ratings could, in the worst case, even threaten livelihoods. It would be nice if eBay would think about this, because it would make things a little more fun again. Even though people unfortunately talk to each other less and less, those who would be open to clarifying something should not be the ones who get punished for it. Kind regardsMarc
