too many listings from one item / vendor
Hello, I'm now a seasoned veteran here and have been buying on eBay for years to save time too. But it feels like in recent years there have been more and more often 20 or 30 pages of one item from one or another seller / dealer, which is annoying and I have to search for hours. Why does it have to be like this ????? Lately I've been buying more from the hardware store again; that goes just as quickly and I can also look at the quality myself.

Thank you very much for your lines, @holdirs! Since we are currently working up the improvement suggestions you mentioned regarding search results on eBay, I would be happy if you could please provide us with a specific scenario.
We also have the policy on listing multiple identical offers, according to which it is not allowed to offer identical items in multiple simultaneously active fixed-price listings. If you have noticed a violation of this policy, you are welcome to report the affected item numbers via the item pages, or, as an exception, send me example item numbers in a private message.
What search term do you enter in the search? Which filters are being used, and what is the listing title of an offer that keeps being shown to you?
It would be nice if searching on eBay were once again more efficient for you in the future than at the hardware store - after all, you found me, an eBay employee, faster than one or another building materials store staff member 😄.
Best regards
Miriam

·2 years agoEbay has been allowing for years now for a seller to list the same item many times.
If I wanted to offer a monitor, for example, I would only have to mention a different monitor in each new listing that it fits
Or with an air freshener, a different car each time that you can hang it in...
That way, hundreds of listings can be generated for one and the same item!
Why should the customers do your work?
Who is actually responsible here for this sales platform?

·2 years agoThanks for this post! And the question of why the customer should do the work.
No sarcasm! I think it’s awesome!
Why should the customers do the work?
Well, because you can sell that as a transparent and valuable way of involving users.
YOUR post is valuable and appreciated.... didn’t you know that?
That’s modern wording!
Right on, etc.

·1 year agoeBay does nothing when the policy on listing multiple identical offers is violated. For us private collectors, it’s especially bad when searching. I’ll use model cars as an example. In the listings, especially with high-quality model cars, up to 80% junk turns up. That’s really infuriating! In addition, (less so German, but especially foreign sellers, above all French and Italian ones) list the same model dozens of times as a single listing. A period or a comma is changed in the title, the same photos, otherwise the same text. I report this to eBay via the hotline, because the button doesn’t work at all anymore. But NOTHING is ever done! The **bleep** AI also blocks everything and then always წერს back that everything is fine. The same applies to keyword spamming. For example, they list a Minichamps model car and then also write no BBR, no Spark, no Neo (very high-quality model car brands). eBay always boasts about wanting a clean marketplace, but it keeps getting “dirtier,” to the detriment of most and to the benefit of a few large sellers. I’ve found sellers who had 20,000 items listed, and ALL of them were listed 4, 5, or 6 times!!!! Exactly the same ones (as I said, I’m talking about model cars) It’s about time you did your job

·2 years agoHello Miriam
I have an immediate example from my former sales area with my other account
Just type in Din 964 brass .
Among other things, there is a fastening center that has lots of screws in different sizes, but all as individual listings, so of course some of them are displayed every day.
So their sales, compared to me as a small seller who was loyal to eBay, you could also say foolish, and created all the different screws in a multi-offer, which of course was only displayed 1x a month. I was once pretty far up under Best Articles, but against individually listed items you naturally have no chance.
and in that area there are plenty of BIG sellers who list each item separately, and that makes me wonder IS EBAY BLIND ? Or do only the small sellers have to create multi-offers ?

·2 years agoWell, it could get even worse, @out-of-order-nix-mehr-da , the next individual offers might already look something like this:
Nail, suitable for red walls
Nail, suitable for yellow walls
Nail, suitable for blue walls
Nail, suitable for smooth walls
Nail, suitable for wallpapered walls
and so on, Ebay apparently knows no limits.....😄
Or?
I can definitely imagine it.

·2 years agowhen too many offers from certain sellers are shown to me, I filter them out right away
the problem for some time now: the providers now have dozens of accounts with similarly sounding member names, all offering the same thing, and if I have to filter all of them out first, I don't have time for anything else anymore
the positive thing is that the ratings are usually similarly bad, and thanks to the BW-% display in the overview I can quickly scroll past the offers

Thanks @out-of-order-nix-mehr-da- that can be worked with 👍. In the meantime, I have written to my colleague who manages the specific eBay account and asked him to address this topic in the next discussion with the competitor.
But you do understand our principles correctly: if you want to offer screws in different sizes, for example, we recommend listing this as a listing with multiple variants . That also means lower listing fees and the inventory can be managed more easily.
If I get any further information on this, I'll get back to you here again. Thanks for your patience until I could reply again!
Best regards
