Forced to lie?
Summary: *sweet-melody* expresses dissatisfaction with the preset dropdown reasons when reporting buyers or sellers and suggests adding a field for 'other reasons' to allow personal explanations. perfect-sally agrees, thinks the idea is good, but is skeptical whether platforms like eBay would respond, since they rely heavily on preset reasons and rules. It is also noted that the current AI on such platforms is often insufficient at correctly understanding personal input.
Hello "everyone"!
If you want to report a buyer or seller, or
return an item, there is always a
dropdown where you can tick various reasons.
The reasons aren't always appropriate, and I don't want to click
an inappropriate reason. Because that would be a lie.
I want to be honest. And I also don't want to
feel pressured not to be.
Why not add, for reasons that don't fit anywhere,
a small box for "other reasons" where you can describe your
own reasons?
Maybe doable?
Kind regards!

Hello @*sweet-melody* and thanks for your opening post and your suggestion!
It's understandable that the preset options don't always cover every individual case. The reasons are intentionally standardized so that requests can be handled as consistently as possible according to our guidelines.
In most cases, after selecting the return or report reason, there is however the option to explain the matter in more detail in a free-text field.
We'll take your suggestion on board - thanks for it! 😊
Best regards
Miriam

·1 week agoVery good idea!
You could add a few words in the text field.
But I think eBay, with its pre-made reasons and rules regarding returns, won’t respond to that.
And then there’s the run-of-the-mill AI that understands practically nothing and understands even less when it comes to the reasons entered there 😏
