Delivery completed
I ship my goods with the basic matrix code as tracking. Every week I have to send buyers an explanation dozens of times that the shipment is only out for delivery and has not yet been delivered, but was only scanned one last time at the destination mail center before going out for delivery. Some even get really angry because the supposed delivery took place at 4:00 a.m.... Unfortunately, buyers do not look at the tracking, which shows that delivery will take place in the next few days. Why can't eBay just adopt that too and instead writes "delivered," which adds to buyers' confusion. Or just leave it out. The tracking button is enough anyway and would at least get clicked, and I wouldn't have to keep explaining why and how the goods haven't arrived yet. ·1 year agoIt is truly very annoying that Ebay cannot communicate properly here. We only ship as large letters, and about 40-60 times a week. And at least 5 customer inquiries a week about the whereabouts of the goods because it says delivered. The customer vents their anger on us and always opens a case through EBAy and demands a refund.

·1 year agoSo I just got the false delivery notification about 2 hours ago. - So nothing has happened yet (from the customer's point of view!).

Hello @4pfotendesign-shop! What you’re bringing up here is something we keep seeing in the community, and our shipping team is aware of it too. We keep passing on your feedback about this on an ongoing basis.
The problem occurs with Deutsche Post when shipping labels with basic tracking are purchased via the eBay shipping labels platform or online through the Deutsche Post website. We are working on implementing adjustments regarding delivery notifications - this also includes reviewing the wording. However, other related projects still need to be completed first, so it may still take a little while before you notice improvements in this area.
Despite the early delivery notification, which can cause confusion for some buyers, we find that shipments with basic tracking receive fewer requests about items not received than letters without tracking.

·1 year agoYeah, unfortunately eBay’s wording is generally not put together with enough care - I got an email recently saying "You have added a new trusted device":
Nope, I didn’t, the cookies were the same (locked), no disconnect or logout for two days, PC was on. The first two ladies unfortunately only spoke rudimentary German and the second was even extremely rude. Problem unresolved. But the third could speak German (native), understood the problem (also a real gem otherwise!), and told me that it was just a security-related brain fart on eBay’s part and that the message is not meant literally (she knew about the issue). She then filed that (the incorrect wording) as a complaint accordingly.
So, I can only join your concern there!
Fun fact: "At the destination delivery center" by no means means that it will be delivered on the same day or the next - I’ve already experienced discrepancies of up to 9(!) calendar days with parcel post. It was only parcel post, but I still think that’s miserable on DPDHL’s part. If eBay now unilaterally interprets something like that as "delivered"... ouch!

OP1 year agoYeah, exactly. I don’t know what that’s supposed to be either. You could just write "out for delivery". Surely that has to be doable for the programmers. Apparently customers even get a notification from ebay that it was delivered. Then I have to deal with the hassle... In a week, that easily eats up an hour just answering customers that the shipment is still on the way...

·1 year agoThat’s the reason why I don’t frank through Ebay. The tracking suggests it has been delivered, even though it only arrived at the delivery center. Ebay can’t change that either, because the actual delivery is no longer documented.

OP1 year agoI don't ship through eBay. I wonder why eBay is marked as "delivered" at all. That's completely unnecessary and not right either. As a seller, you then have to deal with angry customers. A button for shipment tracking is enough...

·1 year agoI don’t enter a tracking number for letter shipping, I just mark it as shipped. That way, questions like that don’t even come up in the first place. Only if a customer asks do I check the tracking, and even then I can never be sure it was actually delivered. Tracking only goes as far as the delivery center, and after that it just says it’s out for delivery. That’s it. Only registered mail is documented all the way to the customer.

·1 year agoAlthough an item sent by registered mail with proof of delivery here is also rather unreliable, @Anonymous because it only documents that it was put in the mailbox, as the name suggests.

OP1 year agoYes, of course I can do that, but then customers can click whether the goods arrived on time. That means defects, because the post does not actually deliver every letter after 3-4 days. The conclusion is then that I have to deal with Ebay and can constantly ask for defects to be removed.

If, as you wrote, you have to do that a dozen times a week, I really wonder why you're putting up with this matrix code nonsense at all ?!?
Then you're at a shipping volume where a contract with DHL would be worth it.
It's simpler in terms of process/handling, more cost-effective, and traceable all the way to the recipient !
And no, I don't work for DHL and don't get anything out of it either - I just make things easy for myself wherever I can.

OP1 year agoI have a contract with DHL and I ship some things with the small parcel, formerly Warenpost, or also as a parcel. But many things by letter post, and I already mentioned in the last post why I scan the matrix code and enter it as tracking. Regards, Andrea
