Defective, incorrect item description, refund outside of eBay?
I bought 2 items that are defective and don’t match the item description, so according to the seller I’m supposed to submit a return request with “changed my mind.” Then the full amount gets refunded. I also don’t need to send it back. Well, no idea what happens with the shipping costs. The AI is absolutely no help here. So is something supposed to be bypassed now? Does that comply with the guidelines?

if you have received two items that are defective and do not match the item description, open a case directly with exactly that reason.
Then the seller has to provide you with a return shipping label and fully refund you after the return. Whether the seller really refunds the full amount, I can't say.
The route suggested by the seller would be a cancellation, and you would have to cover the return shipping yourself.
