For me as a Scandinavian, searching on Ebay.de has become an awful experience in recent years.
They have removed the "Artikelstandort" (Item Location) filter so we can't narrow the search down to items located within the EU, which is a big problem because most of the sellers of what I was looking for had their items located in the USA, Taiwan and United Kingdom, and then I would have to pay customs fees plus 25% import tax.
An Ebay employee responded to the complaints by saying: "There is no need for a fix for the item location search, as we at eBay believe that it is only the location of the item that matters, not the seller's company or even the seller's nationality."
What? 😮 Item location is the location of the item?!
I was looking for mens' shoes of a certain brand and Ebay have also removed the size filter, which makes it ever more difficult. And why? The shoe size doesn't matter? We in Scandinavia use the same size numbering system as Germany?
Maybe there are misunderstandings because of language barriers, but there have been complaints in German as well as in English. I tried to see if the searches would go better if I was logged out, and then Ebay.de had illustration photos in the site with the majority obviously not from Europe, so I'm thinking that maybe Ebay.de is based outside of both German- and English-speaking countries so there could be language barriers?
I gave up searching for the shoes on Ebay and instead combed through the internet for online stores in my country, and it took a while since they are hard to find these days, but find one and bought from there.
