Shipping to my address not possible

I won an auction for an article located in the UK and it was listed as shipping to my home country Germany with a shipping cost given. After I won the auction and go to pay it says that the seller does not ship to this address. I contacted him and he said that if i pay anyway he will ship the item and this really does seem like a bug since germany is one of the listed countries for the item. Am I safe to pay even though it says that the item cannot be delivered to this address?
